Special Student Services (SSS) is a supplemental department of the Portales Municipal Schools (PMS) in Portales, New Mexico. This department provides services to students, ages 3-21, who are identified as having a disability according to criteria set forth by the federal government and the New Mexico Public Education Department (NMPED).

National Speech and Debate Competition: Three gifted students from Portales High School are going to compete in the national competition in Las Vegas. They have done an outstanding job performing, and we wish them GOOD LUCK!!
DESTINATION IMAGINATION TEAMS WIN! Teams from Portales Junior High, Lindsey Elementary, and Valencia Elementary competed on March 15, 2008, in Albuquerque, NM. The Junior High team took 1st place in the challenge "Chorific". The Lindsey team competed in "DI've Got a Secret" and received 1st place. Fifth grade students from Valencia earned a 2nd place in their division with the callenge called "Switch". Congratulations to all the students who prepared and participated in the competition!
