All teachers hold certification in Special Education, along with various other endorsements and certificates such as Early Childhood, Dual Licensed Special Education and Regular Education, TESOL (Teaching English as a Second Language), and Administration. All of the related service and contract staff is certified in their specific field (Speech Language Pathology, Occupational Therapy, Psychology, and Physical Therapy). All paraprofessionals have met the No Child Left Behind Act (NCLB) requirement of 48 college hours, an Associate’s degree, or have passed an assessment.
The contracted services are for a Psychologist, Bilingual Home Liaison, Audiologist, and an Autism Specialist.
Professional development provided through the SSS Department is tied to goals and compliance, as well as certification for related services providers. Staff members have the option of belonging to The Council for Exceptional Children, the National Education Association (NEA), or other professional organizations.
For the safety of children in our schools, every employee is required to be fingerprinted and pass a background check conducted by law officials.
